What are Alternate Hosts?

You can pre-set a licensed user from your organization as an alternate host in your room. This allows them to enter the room with all hosting capabilities and makes setting co-hosts and moderators for events easy!

Selecting Alternate Hosts

Selecting your alternate hosts is simple. Navigate to your  the room you are editing and select Settings. Then, click on 'and scroll to the 'Alternate Hosts' section.

From this modal, you can type in the name of any licensed user in your organization to select them as an alternate host. Once you are happy with your settings, save and exit the advanced settings.

In order to assign someone the role of alternate host, they must also have a paid  license.

Many customers utilize alternate hosts for a number of reasons:

  • Start the Meeting/Webinar: Allow someone else to start the session if the original host is unable to join at the scheduled time or is absent altogether. This ensures the meeting can proceed without the original creator being present.
  • Assume Host Controls: Grant another trusted user full host privileges to manage the meeting. This includes managing participants (muting, removing), starting/stopping recordings, changing audience participation modes, managing content areas during mingle mode, and ending the session.
  • Provide Redundancy: Act as a backup in case the primary host loses connection or encounters technical difficulties during the meeting. The alternate host can take over seamlessly.
  • Share Hosting Responsibilities: In large meetings or complex events, an alternate host can assist the primary host by sharing the tasks of managing the session. 1
