Additional Presentation Controls: Pop-out Presenters and Hiding Presenters

This article explains how to use the Pop-out Presenter feature in Scoot, which allows you to view a presenter in a separate, resizable window during a presentation. It also covers how presenters can hide and show their own camera.

Opening the Pop-out Presenter View

Description: The Pop-out Presenter feature allows you to detach a presenter's video feed into a separate window. This window can be resized and repositioned, enabling you to view the presenter while simultaneously interacting with other applications or tabs.

Location of Controls: The "Open pop-out" option is accessed via the three-dot menu located in the top right-hand corner of a presenter's video feed during a presentation.

Usage Instructions:

  1. During a presentation, hover your mouse cursor over the video feed of the presenter you want to pop out.
  2. A three-dot menu will appear in the top right-hand corner of their video.
  3. Click on the three-dot menu.
  4. A tooltip will appear that says "Open pop-out".  Click on "Open pop-out".
  5. The presenter's video feed will now open in a separate, pop-out window.

Resizing and Returning from Pop-out View

Description: Once a presenter's video is in pop-out mode, you can adjust the size of the window or return it to the main presentation tab.

Location of Controls:

  • Resizing: Drag the edges or corners of the pop-out video window.
  • Return to Tab: Click the "Return to tab" button located within the pop-out window. Alternatively, click the 'x' button in the pop-out window's title bar.

Usage Instructions:

  1. In the pop-out presenter window, hover your mouse cursor over the edges or corners of the window.
  2. When the cursor changes to a double-headed arrow, click and drag to resize the window to your desired size.
  3. To return the presenter's video to the main presentation tab, either click the "Back to tab" button within the pop-out window or  click the 'x' button to close the pop-out and return to the original presentation view.

Benefits of Pop-out Presenter

Description: The Pop-out Presenter feature offers several advantages for viewers and presenters alike.

Benefits:

  • Multitasking for Viewers: Viewers can keep the presenter in sight while opening other tabs or applications, allowing for better engagement and information retention.
  • Presenter Self-View During Screen Share: Presenters sharing their screen (e.g., for videos or slides) can pop out their own video feed to maintain visual connection with the audience.

Presenter Controls - Hiding and Showing Your Camera

Description: As a presenter, you have the ability to hide your own video feed from the presentation view while still maintaining control of the presentation.

Location of Controls: The camera control (to enable/disable your camera) is typically located within the main presentation controls, often as a camera icon.

Usage Instructions (Hiding Camera):

  1. While presenting, locate the camera icon in your presentation controls.
  2. Click on the camera icon to disable your camera. Your video feed will no longer be visible to other participants in the main presentation view. However, if you have popped out your own video, it will remain visible in the pop-out window.

Usage Instructions (Showing Camera):

  1. If your camera is hidden, locate the camera icon in your presentation controls (it may appear with a slash through it or in a disabled state).
  2. Click on the camera icon again to enable your camera. Your video feed will now be visible to other participants in the main presentation view.

Use Cases for Hiding Camera (Presenters):

  • Focus on Shared Content: Temporarily hide your video to give more screen real estate to the shared content.
  • Producing Events: When sharing the screen of another speaker (e.g., a VIP or keynote), hiding your own camera prevents your video from appearing alongside theirs in the main presentation view. You can still control the presentation behind the scenes.
